Clean Up Your Life

Out with the old, In with the new
I am asked quite often about the definition of life coaching. I can only tell you what I tell people, which is what life coaching is to me.
Life coaching is kind of like therapy or counseling only we concentrate on the here & now & moving forward instead of the past like you do in traditional therapy.
Sometimes in life you get stuck or off your path, but everything you need is always inside of you. We all need help pulling it out of us from time to time. A life coach is that help.
When I start working with clients, I have specific things I tell every client to do.
For starters, de-cluttering. You cannot have new things in your life or new opportunities present themselves to you if you are cluttered.
Start with your house. If you have things stacked up or laying around, you need to go through them and get rid of some stuff & put the other stuff where it belongs. How overflowing is your closet? Time to go through it.
Donate some items or just give them to friends. Either way you are making room for the new and that is the point. I am a big believer in what you send out into the universe, comes back to you tenfold. Donating is an awesome idea since you are providing clothing & whatever else you have to donate, for someone who doesn’t have that. Everyone has to look on that with a positive light.
New things will not present themselves to you as long as there isn’t room for them in your life. This is something I learned almost a year ago & have been practicing de-cluttering almost every week since. I focus on a clean desk. I hate a cluttered desk now.
The next thing a client needs to do is work on their inner dialogue. Pay attention to how you talk to yourself, inside your head and out loud. If you are constantly being negative, that is what you are going to attract into your life. What you think about, you bring about.
If you wish to create the life you have always wanted, you need to think about it. Talk about it. Write it down in present tense, then read it everyday.
Another step I recommend is writing down your wants. Write down what you want out of life. Then we are going to change them into intentions. Instead of saying “I want“, you will say “I intend to“.
Intentions are things that you do not know how they are going to manifest, but you know they will happen somehow, someway.

It’s amazing how we are unaware of our own propensity to clutter our life with negative things. Indeed, going for what is beneficial to our life needs an awareness on our part.

Oh Amy, this is wonderful. Normally, I am a very organized lady, but you wouldn’t know it looking at my desk. You’ve inspired me to take control of that. Thank you.
